Announcing Summer Reading CONTEST
Following the success of the RBS
Suggested Holiday Reading List in December
2003 the RBS
invites humor fans to submit suggestions for a list of light, humorous
summer 2004 reading --the sort of thing that you might take to the beach.
The suggested readings will be compiled into a list for publication in time
for summer vacations.
Suggested readings should be:
(a) Published works available in book shops and libraries or free online;
(b) Composed in the English language;
(c) In some way, even by a stretch, appropriate to summer 2004;
(d) Humorous; and
(e) Of such a tone and length as to be appropriate to read aloud among
friends or family.
(f) Both (b) and (d)
(g) None of the above
(h) All of this above
(i) Served ice cold with a twist of lime.
Contributions will be judged based on:
(a) Originality;
(b) Contribution to Benchley scholarship; and
(c) How the contributor looks in beachwear.
All judging will be done in accordance with WBC rules:
(a) There is no standing 8 count and no 3 knockdown rule;
(b) Fighter can be saved by the bell in the last round only;
(c) A 10 point must system is in effect;
(d) Only the referee can stop the fight; and
(e) Accidental head butt goes to the scorecard after the fourth round.
The winner will receive a photographed autograph of Robert Benchley.
